Belgrade will, once again, host an ATP tournament, welcoming some of the world’s top tennis players. The “Belgrade Open,” as this edition will be called, will take place from November 2nd to November 9th in the Belgrade Arena, played on a hard-court surface. After successfully organizing clay-court tournaments over the past three years, a new license for a 250-series tournament has been approved by the ATP, giving Belgrade the opportunity to continue developing as a recognized tennis destination.
“Our goal was to obtain a new ATP license and continue the tradition of organizing professional tournaments in Belgrade. We are proud that we achieved this, and the difference compared to previous tournaments is that this year, the event will be held indoors and on a hard-court surface for the first time. I am confident that we will make the most of the trust that the ATP organization put in us, once again, and offer the audience a true tennis spectacle,” said Djordje Djokovic, director of the Belgrade Open tournament.
Regarding the long-term plans for organizing professional ATP tournaments, the tournament director explained that efforts are constantly being made to expand the number of events.
“The Belgrade Open tournament, for now, is a two-year license, so the tournament will be held next year, as well. In addition, we are actively working to ensure that Belgrade has not just one but two ATP tournaments per year on different surfaces—hard court and clay. We are optimistic that we will achieve this goal in the near future” emphasized Djordje Djokovic.
Information about ticket sales, the players participating in the tournament, and other important details will soon be announced through the tournament’s official communication channels.
At the ATP 250 Belgrade Open 2024, 28 players will compete in the singles main draw, with three receiving wildcards, and four securing their spots through the qualifying rounds, which will take place on November 2nd and 3rd. The main draw singles will also include 19 players based on their ATP rankings, while 16 pairs will compete in the double’s competition.
