Denis Shapovalov played an excellent final match, he did not allow Medjedovic to come close to him, and in the end the trophy went into the Canadian’s hands.
“It’s a great feeling. We all worked a lot together for this title. We were trying to come back from injury, and the season was quite long. This is the title of all of us, not just mine. I went up and down during the season, but it ended well,” said Shapovalov.
How do you rate this week in general?
“This is a big step to get back to the top. I’m sure this week will help me a lot in preparing for next year. As for this one, I played amazing tennis. I have to work hard.”
Will you return to Belgrade next year?
“I would like to come back. I definitely love Belgrade. I love playing here, the city is beautiful. Why not, if there is a tournament here next year, yes, I will come back”.
Finally, what do you think of Hamad Medjedovic’s game?
“Hamad was good. In general, he was in a great rhythm all week. It was not easy to beat him. He is excellent, young and talented,” concluded Shapovalov.
