Hamad Medjedovic enjoyed incredible support in the duel with Aleksandar Kovacevic. His friends and family were in the stands, which was an additional motivation for the Serbian in crunch time.
During the entire match, Kovacevic made as many as 16 aces, which speaks volumes about how the American played. However, not even that was an obstacle for Medjedovic.
“I played a good match, better than in the first round. I’m happy with the game. I’m motivated to continue, we’ll see what happens”, said Hamad Medjedovic.
In the first set, the Serbian had a lot of problems with Kovacevic’s first serve, which he ultimately admitted.
“Honestly, I struggled on the return in the first set. He served very well, he was hitting fantastically, I didn’t know how to position myself. Later I found the right stance, and he didn’t serve as well and I took advantage of it.”
Medjedovic has already started working with a new coach from Spain.
“Nothing excessive, we’re still getting to know each other. I was there about 10 days before the tournament in Belgrade. We trained a bit, got to know each other, talked about plans for the future.”
The quarter finalist of the Belgrade Open tournament also talked about the nervousness that caught him in the first set.
“I’m known for being able to get angry quickly. I love winning, I fight, that’s why it’s like that”, concluded Medjedovic.
