Dusan Lajovic ended his participation at the Belgrade Open, losing to Marosan.
The game of the Serbian tennis player was also affected by an earlier leg injury, from which he still has not recovered.
As he pointed out, he felt minor discomfort during the landing, but now he will have a break and try to fully recover.
“It was not easy today, the opponent was better in some important moments. In any case, I am grateful to have been able to play at all. I was recovering from an injury, I played a tight match today in some training sessions I felt I was equal or a level below. Which is normal. I am satisfied that I won that one match as well. Realistically speaking, a positive week for me, regardless of the defeat, although I expected to be better,” Dusan Lajovic said.
Are you happy with how this season went for you?
“I would say 50-50. I would say 60 percent of the season went well for me and then an injury ended up derailing my plans. I haven’t been in these situations much. I only had chronic, but not acute injuries. This is something new for me despite it happening now when I am 34 years old. It’s simply the situation that affected this end of the season. When the emotions subside, I am ready for rest and mental preparation for the next season.
Where will you play first in the new season?
“I will prepare in Spain, and my first tournament will be Brisbane, then Adelaide and Melbourne. I said the other day that I don’t have a goal, but for my leg to be fine. I felt a little sore today on the court. As I said, I want above all to enter the new season healthy. If so, then I can make a plan. The goal is to have a better season someone and to get back into the top 40 or top 50 as soon as possible. I’m not young and I don’t see myself around the hundredth position, being north or south of that. Neither there nor there. Now I’m 80th in the world, but I played at the top level in several tournaments, if I feel I can play at that level, then that’s it,” Lajovic said.
