Branko Djuric, after a comeback, won in the qualifiers against Argentinian Tiago Tirante with 6:7(2), 6:3, 6:4, which is a tremendous success.
“It was great on the field. I’m overjoyed. I had support from the stands, much bigger than the first day. I was definitely motivated by all that,” said after the match Branko Djuric, a young player, born in Podgorica and raised in Budva.
It seemed that Djuric would not withstand the pressure of the seventh seed in the tournament, however, when it was most needed, he played his best.
“The feeling is really incredible because this is my biggest success. I am happy to play in the main draw now. In a way, I’m satisfied, but I hope I have the strength and energy to continue playing like this.”
Tirante is currently the 121st player in the world, but that didn’t scare the young Djuric, even knowing that the Argentine beat Rublev this season.
“As for the level of the game, I am very close to Tirante. I won a tight match today, maybe in some other circumstances I would lost. The difference is that those people are constantly used to playing at this level, unfortunately I haven’t been able to do that so far. This is only my first year playing professional tennis.
I hope that with time and experience I will get better at it,” concluded Djuric.
Djokovic is a role model, I like Roger’s game
Djuric does not hide who his role models are and two names stand out.
“My role models are Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.” Novak has the best results by far and I liked Roger because of his style of play, it was great watching him. My game is similar to Zverev’s, something like that,” explained Djuric.
