Carried by fantastic support from the stands, Laslo Djere defeated Croatia’s Dujo Ajdukovic.
The first set was particularly impressive, which the Serbian won 6:1. In the second, his rival played much better, so the winner was decided only after the tie break.
The audience recognized the moment, gave extra strength to their fellow compatriot for the decisive game and victory.
“The first set was very good, I played excellent tennis. I am very satisfied. In the second set he started to play better, the points came quickly, even though I was serving well. I lost my focus, I started to get nervous, and I missed the lead. With a great fight, I managed to win the tie-break in the end,” said Laslo Djere.
Your next rival is Fabian Maroszan, have you played him before?
“We worked out a couple of times together, but never played a match. I watched him a bit. I will have to make a better analysis for tomorrow’s match. If I play like in the first set, I can beat many players. These matches will mean a lot for my confidence. I hope that I will be able to play the next match without any downs. When I say that, I mean the second set at 6:5 and downs in some matches this year.”
You managed to overcome a difficult situation?
“This is positive because I managed to get out from the hole, but a dozen times this year I didn’t manage to do that. This victory will mean a lot to my confidence. I had to break the ice. I also lost a few tie breaks. This will be my first quarterfinal this year. It’s been over 13 months since I won two matches on tour. It’s hard mentally, you doubt yourself a little when that happens,” Djere explained.
